ATTENTION DOWNHILL SKATEBOARDERS

The 2019 COAST LONGBOARDING BRITISH COLUMBIA OUTLAW RACE SERIES IS HERE!

The purpose of this race series to encourage grassroots DH skateboard racing in the greater Vancouver area and beyond. In honouring our DH roots – the Coast Longboarding community, these races will be GNARLY, COMPETITIVE, UNIQUE, A.S.A.P (As safe as possible) AND FUN FOR ALL!
– Chase

When racing on open roads, there are obvious extreme risks associated with the dangers of open roads; Other road users, vehicles, pedestrians, wildlife, cyclists, debris, road conditions, weather, a thousand unpredictable variables and possible encounters with police. With this in mind, to keep everyone safe, while also racing exciting courses we will do our best to skate in places that have little to no vehicle traffic, and we will have as many voulunteers course workers while encouraging EVERYONE to play a role in helping keep riders on course safe. If a course worker needs help managing traffic or riders please help as best you can. LET’S LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER! Helmet and gloves required at all races, full face helmet recommended, good attitude mandatory!
The series will consist of 16 Races, on weekends, mostly Saturdays, between January 5th and April 20th. The races will be scored (see Scoring System) points will be earned, tallied, and made publicly available to view. Intensive points for juniors (under 18) just for showing up. Throughout the series, at some races there will be low scoring, fun unique, bonus challenges with minimal points up for grabs. A halfway winner after 8 races will receive a prize just because why not?
Locations will be varied to skate in different neighbourhoods each week. This brings racing to different communities & brings racers to new places.

SCORING SYSTEM:
The FINALS heat, AND CONSI finals will earn points.
– In the case of heats with 3 riders, 1st to 6th place will earn points.
– In the case of heats with 4 riders 1st to 8th place will earn points
– In the case of heats with 5 riders (probably unlikely) 1st to 10th place will earn points.
– In the case of Chinese downhill (all at once) the top 8 riders will receive points.
– The winner of the CONSI final will receive an additional (1) point, because they worked for it.
– Low scoring bonus challenges will be under 5 points. The point is to have fun and offer occasional opportunities to earn few points which might help on the overall scoreboard but not to disrupt the competitiveness of the overall series.
-Juniors (under 18 years old) can receive additional points for their outcome. Every junior gets one (1) point for showing up to any race, period. That one (1) point will apply in addition to any podium position points they may score.
