Skateboarding illegal in National Parks

Mat posted,

Hello everyone! Im sure alot of u know about a parks bylaw prohibiting skateboarding in all national parks across canada! Well I would like to propose a movement amongst skaters across the country to use the push for the cure as a way to let our voices be heard.. I'm sure their r a few of u who would know the proper avenues we would need to take to have this bylaw re-written.. Please .. Any feedback on this would b greatly appreciated!!

The reason I bring this forward is cuz I have spent the last two summers in waterton Park,Alberta.. And mark my words it is a longboarding mecca.. Including a nice 2km section worthy of the most skilled riders.. The only problem is the authorities in the park have become aware of this twenty year old bylaw and r enforcing it everychance they can... So lets all get on the same page so we all can take advantage of these beautiful runs!! Thank U all for taking the time to hear my plea... Sincerely.. Mat K

Once again in Alberta you fit the legal definition of a "four wheeled cycle" or quadracycling as we pretend to call our sport of longboarding. All you have to do is attach a bike bell to your board somehow. You will win every court case that you will ever be given and in many cases you will frustrate the rangers but they will not give you a ticket. If your not doing anything wrong refuse to leave. abide by the speed limits when they are around and display proper stopping techniques. Ensure your pendulums are very well rehearsed.

Ensure before you start mentioning push for the cure that you have spoken to rob lewis. Misrepresentation is a crime. I don't want anything nasty to come out of this buddy. Come out to the spaggetti party thursday and we can talk about it with Aaron and Ross. We are working on the laws slowly, we are changing how the parks deal with us. There are a few things we must do before we will get a response from the province. Come help us Matt.
