My smile is of epic proportions. What an awesome day!

It began with a warm morning sun and no clouds. The badlands were as dry as ever, the road clean, the guards smiling and asking about our riders by name. It was good to be riding a hill where we are more than welcomed. Three of us stacked a bunch of runs in. I was laughing and grinning the entire time. We raced a cyclist down and whooped his peacock colored, spandex clad ass!!!

Next we slashed, carved, and marinated in some sick ditches. The temperature was in the upper 80s F and the wind was now blowing. We skated until we were too hot and sweaty to ride and decided it was time for a dive in the Rogers' pool.

Refreshed and ready to bbq, we watched the sunset while drinking PBR's and enjoying ono grinds! The full moon was now beginning to lurk and gmr was on the brain.

If skating glendora moutain road on a bright autumn full moon, late on a school night, is contributing to the delinquency of a minor - than i am guilty as charged. This is the time of the year when the moon shines in a favorable position for all its beloved moonriders. From the hippies on mushrooms in far away desert valleys, to the surf rats, to the drifters; it doesnt matter what your passion, this was a night for me to remember.

Our runs were laxed and free. Speedy little banked full tuck turns was the name of our drug, gmr its peddler! The local groms are KILLING it and time is showing that they are putting in thier's. Odd sentence structure, right? Well not as odd the dumb ass that tried to drift Marbles as we were coming in hot. As we approached, Justin out front, a black rice burner, bing-bing car, was sliding nose first into the dirt. right in the apex. We stuck our outside lines safely through. After passing the jack ass, we watched as his buddies just about piled into the passenger side of his door. kooks, learn how to drive before coming to gmr! These are the same ass#@!s that flung countless rocks into the 180 corner after the snake! I mowed them down as i came through, they almost bucked me but thanks to my rock crushing Rogers Bros board, super stable Randal R-2s with Venom 97a bright orange bushings I made that mine field of a corner my bitch!

Its almost midnight as i reach San Clemente. The moon is exceptional. I am tired but the sirens at trestles are calling my name. I swap out gear and head over. I park up on the hill above Carls Jr and skate down with board in hand.
As i pass the 5 onramp, there are 3 cop cars that are pulling some knucklehead over. They shine their light on me as i pass. I smile and wave as they give me a thumbs up. I bomb down the recently repaved trail down to uppers, make the corner and coast down the old trail right into a large pile of sand that got washed into my way. I luckily surf through it without getting doughnuts and reach Cotton's point.

This is where Richard Nixon once lived while in office. When I was at the Republican National Convention, I sported a Nixon button next to a Kennedy. Well this man came up to me and told Vasser and me about his days in SC with Nixon. He went on to tell us that Tricky Dick was the reason he got into politics. He was a grom back in the day and it was very difficult to ride Cottons due to the Secret Service post. Well he was getting escorted off the property, When President Nixon spoke up and had him brought to him. Richard was a surfer. He smoked hay, rode a longboard, and knew that spot better than anyone. (maybe because he was the only local) he was a surfer's surfer. He showed this grom how he lived along with his bros. This was happening during the Watergate fallout and his time with the former pres was only a few months, but it had a lifelong impact for this man.

(ok this is a little off topic, but true none the less, something i liked hearing since i can relate - maybe some of you can too)

anyway i made the walk down to Lowers amidst many sand pipers, cranes, driftwood, and a stray skunk. No not the weed, the kind that spray! I avoid danger and paddled out to find only 3 other riders. I met a guy from Noddingham, England who was wasted and hilarious. We laughed and joked and SCORED good waves. The tide was dropping, the waves were shoulder high, with a head higher about every 30mins. I rode well past being the only rider out there. I get back to my car and its 3:33 AM. A stop and 7-11 for breakfast, and i get home for one last carve session. Its now 4:20, my ma is waking up to prepare for her long day of teaching school. I share about my day, eat a mango, drink some water and racked out with a smile plastered from ear to ear.

you know, the kind you get from too much fun!
