I WORE MY FUCKIN HELMET!

im writing this because i feel lucky to be alive, or at the
least, lucky to be okay.
I wasnt bombing a hill, i wasnt dodging in and out of
traffic, i was just skating on flat land from the c train to
my house.
ive skated this many times, and i usually am not wearing
my helmet when i do this (i mean, we all are guilty of
cruising without a helmet to the store or school).
today, for some reason, i decided to put my helmet on.
thank god i did.
i skated 800 m or so down the road away from the
station, pushing myself up to a decent cruising speed. as i
went around a bend in the road (going maybe 15 km/h, if
that) i must have hit a rock or something, but my board
came to a dead stop right underneath me. i was wearing a
backpack weighing at least 40 pounds, and when the
momentum of the bag hit me, it threw me face first into
the pavement. i do mean face first.
i managed to get my hands out but it didn't matter. i
smacked my head face first right into the concrete. it
wrecked the outer shell, the inner shell, and separated the
impact foam liner from the shell completely.
the force of the impact was serious. i was momentarily
knocked out. i took the brunt of the impact on my
forehead and chin, splitting my chin wide open, right
down to the bone.
i gave myself a black eye, wrecked my right shoulder (full
bottle of T3 wrecked...), busted my nose open, and my
chin required 6 stitches. not to mention both my wrists
are tender, to say the least.
I also suffered a "visual migraine" in the ER. For about ten
minutes, i felt incredibly lightheaded, spaced out, and i
had severe visual distortions in my right, peripheral
vision. they became so intense at one point i was nearly
blind in one eye. thankfully it went away just as soon as it
came.
my chin is so fucked that i received 6 stitches, but should
have received more. the doc said that there wasnt a whole
lot of flesh left to work with.
im just sharing this because this was a freak accident. i
did this on a skate ive done a million times, and i did it at
full pushing speed, but no faster. I dont normally wear my
helmet for this. today I did.
you can bet that ill be wearing it from now on whenever
im on a board, regardless of the circumstances.

its pretty obvious this guy doesnt wear a helmet. but i wonder if he was already too stupid to spell, or did he crash and hit his head once then became this retarded
