Seylynn 30 years old!

Dan J posted,

The oldest skateboard park in Canada (N.America?)
turns 30 on Oct 7th.
I haven't heard this mentioned much so I thought
I'd bring it up... 30 years is a long time.

I remember Nico, Rob Leshgold and the Mad Carver
doing a big airs with flips for the newspaper cameras.

Here's a cool link with some sweet photos:

And the YouTube movie:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYHp1dUoO9c

I'm going for a session on Tuesday to skate in the old style...

Off axis replied,

funny u should say its 30 years old...the link you post states this in the very first paragraph....

On Saturday October 17th 1978, the district of North Vancouver opened Seylynn Skateboard Park to the public. Now in its thirtieth year, it’s the oldest surviving park in Canada, and arguably the longest lasting park in North America. Its authenticity and classic design has surpassed skateboardings many popularity waves, and it was a featured venue for a skateboard competition associated with Expo ‘86. In its lifetime, countless locals and professionals alike (most noteworthy, Tony Hawk and Steve Caballero) have sessioned its curves, banks and hips.
