I saw this watching cspan this morning. It was the topic of concern for the ISAF. It was the newspaper photo that Maj Gen Tucker was holding that caught my eye. I had scene the scenic photos of the pass before but never of this tunnel, the Khyber Agencey, and of course this wicked hairpin after it.
This is currently the deadliest stretch of road in the world. Attacks happen daily as it is the key pass that separates central asia from the middle east. 200 Taliban and bandits patrol and hide along it.
When Alexander the Great conquered this area he proclaimed it the most beautiful pass in the world. Its is said to be home to the best sunrise and sunsets. More armies have been decimated here over the course of time than anywhere else in the world.
How sick would it be to bomb this wearing full body armor - carbon fiber/kevlar flack jacket kind body armor - not motorcycle.
and of course my COAST LONGBOARDING SUICIDE BOMBER t-shirt! maybe one day, time will tell.
