-------------

Because you guys aren't adults yet, you'll need to sign a waiver downloadable here:

http://www.zshare.net/download/538792648471a844/

Basically it says you can't hold us responsible for whatever happens to you if you do get hurt.

EMS on site is still in the works with Lee. I will post up when their availability is confirmed with Lee.

-------------

The way we're going to race is by class. The Junior Class riders will only do straight runs. The Intermediate Class will do the race from higher up to do a corner. We may choose to not do this for the first race spot since it's a particularly challenging corner to take. This will be implemented for the other races though.

---------------

Print out the waivers for yourselves and bring them to either Wolf or myself. We won't have any copies on us on race day, so make sure that you have the form filled in COMPLETELY before the race day or else we won't allow you to race. No exceptions!

If your parents can drive, that would be a huge plus if we're deep in West Van where transit access is very limited. I will have maps of the locations and I may need help with finding where the locations are since I too am unfamiliar with the names of the streets. All I know is that "it's over there somewhere, by that place, you know that thing?" Haha, sorry guys!

If we do get shut down, DO NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT A RACE. Imagine these days as Saturday Sessions. If we are asked to leave, WE PACK UP AND LEAVE. We'll figure out what to do afterwards.

In response to a previous post about if leathers should be worn:

We don't believe that you will need leathers but if you feel more comfortable AND SAFE in them while bombing, you are more than welcome to wear your cowskins. It's not like we won't let you race if you had them on!

Again, helmets and gloves are MANDATORY. Have as much fun as possible, be as safe as possible. Do NOT mention anything about a race. If anyone asks, we're just skating the roads with spotters, radios, and flags. Better safe than sorry eh!

PRIZES WILL COME WHEN THE ENTIRE SERIES IS DONE

Thanks to Mike Benda, Skatie and Lee for their support in putting this event together. Without their help, this event would be no more than an idea! Give them all a high-five the next time you see them!

Quinn - Pocketknife replied,

Hey..if we get enough of a turn out can we split the ages up a bit more...like 18-14 and then 13 and under or something...that would give us light weights a bit more of a chance...just a thought..

UPDATE:

Lee worked stuff out with the EMS and will they be present for the first race! Thanks Lee!

Also, due to some unforseen costs before this was planned, Entry will cost $10 This fee will cover the ENTIRE SERIES (all three races). I apologize for the change, but funds are incredibly tight for me right now and I can't afford to shoulder all the costs. It ain't free to have EMT's at an event eh!

And the date as well, it's on Sunday, January 18th

phil - the OMGWTFBBQ replied,

whoops blank post. anyways

I need an idea of many of you guys are committed to coming because I need to make an estimate on how long this entire thing will take. Blake's been kind enough to help out and gave me the heads up that we need to do this quick before we attract any unwanted attention.

If we do get shut down, we need to clear out and quickly. Again, if your parents are driving, ask if they can put a few of you guys in their cars. I wouldn't want to leave anyone behind!

This brings up drivers. If anyone can volunteer their car for the day(s), drop me a line.

So again, potential racers please email me and willing drivers email me as well.

phil - the OMGWTFBBQ replied,

Alright, here's my final pass on things

The location has moved to Capilano College There is a small run that's adjacent to a parking lot. It's comparable to the Demo Forest! This location will be for the junior guys (12 and under)

The location for the intermediates is going to be at the bottom of the Stables. Both spots are close to each other and don't require a car to get to.

The age limit has been bumped to 16 years and down. It isn't necessary to bring a go card, its just a fun little variation on making sure you're as old as you say you are, but that's what the waiver is for.

Competitors will be picked from a hat and will race in 4-rider heats.

Shutdown areas will be marked clearly on race day.

These hills do not require leathers. This is not a balls-to-the-wall speed race, it's a fun race designed to get you groms used to riding in race situations. Alege has flags so they'll be easier to see than waving hands. Visibility is a huge factor especially with the fog that we've been having recently. I'll have a high-vis safety vest (thanks Taylor!!) as well as Alege. Come to us if you need help. EMS will be on location and we'll have radio communication too(Thanks Erian!).

Be sure to bring your signed forms and entry fee. I'll have extras with me on race day, but I can't let you race without your parents' consent! These forms will be needed for each week and I will put up download links for each waiver form before each race.

Many thanks to Lee, Blake, Erian, Graham, Alege, and Wolf. Putting this together was made easier with your guys' help!

Questions, concerns? philipthegas(at)hotmail.com

Finally, although this is a race, please keep safety a priority. Again, helmet and gloves are mandatory. I won't allow racers without gear to race.

1: Dylan (4pts)
2: Wolf (3pts)
3: John (2pts)
4: Cole (1pt.)

We're planning the next spot soon so check this thread often. Thanks to everyone that made this happen and to all that helped out. It's greatly appreciated by all of us!

phil - the OMGWTFBBQ replied,

Alright groms, here's the deal:

The next race is going to be at the Chan Centre parkade at UBC. I understand that this is a trek for the PoCo guys, but don't worry, UBC is a transit hub.

We are meeting at Commercial Drive & Broadway at 12PM this sunday. The 99 B-line will take us straight to UBC and the parkade is a little ways away from where we get off.

Race format will be the same as last time. Those familiar with the Chan, you can take any corners that you like. The first one to the bottom wins!

EMS will not be present at this race, but I'm working on getting them to the last race. If you guys have any ideas, it would help!

So to re-cap, Commercial Dr. and Broadway (Skytrain station) at 12PM. BRING BUS FARE/PASSES!!!

Hey guys hopefully i will be in attendance but i was wondering if anyone could lend me some slide gloves and/or kneepads/leg armor? I was planning to go get some tomorrow but i found out there's a race!

phil - the OMGWTFBBQ replied,

Alright fellas, here's the scoop.

The race is going to be on sunday february 1st. I am aware that this is the day that Katie plans to hold the first clinic of her series, but as far as I saw, there were no girls competing in this series.

LOCATION: The Chan Centre at UBC. It's a little bit of a skate from the main bus loop and all buses link up with major transit routes; 99 b-line, 41 Joyce Stn. bus, 49 Metrotown Stn. bus and a handful more.

We will meet at Broadway and Commercial at 12 PM and catch the 99 B-line straight to UBC. Please try to be on time! If you're at Broadway + Commercial and we're not there, give me a call. My number is at the bottom

You will need waiver forms for this and as for entry fee, there's no need for racers from the last race to pay again. $10 gets you in!

Waiver form link:
http://www.zshare.net/download/54761428b0931962/

Loaded/Orangatang is onboard for this event too! I worked stuff out with Louis so look forward to some goods from Loaded and O-tang!

EMS will not be present at this event but they will be there for the final race for FEBRUARY 8th. The location is yet to be decided, but I will make a decision soon.

If any of you live near UBC or on the west side of Vancouver, you can meet us at the bus loop but please stay out of the Chan until we are all there! I don't want to heat out our spot pre-maturely.

Heats will be determined as they were before, same with the races.

Here are the points leaders as of the first race:

Dylan A. - 4 points
Wolf - 3 points
John N. - 2 points
Cole M. 1 point

and Quinn - 4 points

For those who live around the UBC area or choose to travel by car to the location, stay OUT of the Chan Centre until we arrive.

For others, we meet at 12PM at Commercial and Broadway. Don't be late!
