Sun Run Skate Sesh?

hey, so i've always dreamed about being able to shut down traffic on a whim, and board down some of the widest streets in vancouver. Then it got me thinking and I thought of taking the sun run route, on the day of the race!
It'd be pretty tight I think, I'd love to do it. Think it would be a better idea to talk to the organizers of the race, and let us go ahead of the runners, or just get a huge group of people together?

checked on their website, and it says dogs, inline skates, bicycles, and skateboards are prohibited from the race. However I'm pretty sure that was just referring to people in the starting zone. I'm sure they'd let groups of whatever out ahead of racers as long as we were to start with a big enough gap before the elite runners. I think costumes would be hilarious!!! 80's retro style?
Sending them an email either late tonight or tomorrow cause I have to work in half 'n hour. Any suggestions for content? I was planning on mentioning that all members of our group would be wearing helmets.
