agh I can't foot break faster than 30. I just lose control and
smack my head. Advice?

What MT said sounds pretty much right to me. also be very aware of how gradually you're applying pressure to the pavement. This'll help you from jamming down, as well as avoiding you're foot moving up and down along the board quickly (ie jamming into your back wheel)
