did you ever think that these kids flock to races because its fun? or that people other than strike, grahm and tom make the community an amazing place to be? its cool what their doing...but let me tell you, its what everyone else is doing thats a hell of alot cooler...
did you ever consider that the scar on your leg would make you smile everytime you saw it, cuase thats the day you learned how NOT to do something?
i know! your a street skater. but JUST a street skater. you cant do anything else, and i bet your not very good at it too....or you are, but never got good enough to do anything with it or make any money, so now your sitting at the desk of your insurance job trying to tell kids to learn from the mistakes you made...
i get it, this is a blankman post. but its still not the place for you to come tell thousands of people 'how it really is'
grow up and stop trying to take the smiles off the faces of many people that wake up and enjoy what they do everyday. ps. not all of the kids that travel everywhere are rich kids (granted, some are) others have jobs, and they save, and they travel. not becuase they want to win the measly $2000 prize that they have to beat out a couple hundred dudes to get...but becuase its for the love of the game...a thing which you obviously dont have.

i like this thread...i really do, its fuckin interesting.
all i can say is i work like a fucking dog, often have 120+ hours on a two week paycheck...i go skate whenever im not at work (if im not comatose staring at a wall) but thats why i travel...the weather here sucks most times (nice now though!) and i need an excuse to get away from my otherwise hectic life. traveling to races that im not gonna win gives me somewhere to go. sure, i could go to mexico or something and stay at a resort with a swim up bar...but i would rather do something challenging and smile while im at it.
im no rich kid, im a worker. my rent is paid, my stomach is full, my hand has a cigarette and a joint in it and my pocket has a passport and plane tickets to everything im going to this season. i also just stepped into my new leathers. oh shit! this was all bought with my own money. im not gonna win any mens races this year, so i can forget about winning back what money i have invested into this sport, but i will be at multiple events with a smile constantly on my face. im gonna let the sun shine on me instead of being at home where its probably raining, and im also gonna see what it feels like to hit over 110km/h in colorado with maytum. (stokeeeeed buddy!) its not all about winning and losing, and you, blankman, know this best. but what it is all about, im getting done, and im happy with my progress
