I'm from Richmond and I own a board, but I definately do not race. I'm very far from it, and that's how I like it...
now with that being said, I don't mean to seem rude, but seriously, longboarding in Richmond? Most people just go to the skate parks and do tricks all day. I have quite a few friends who are good and sponsored and that's all fine and dandy, but the point is there's nothing steep to skate down and there aren't really any good scenic routes for longboarding. It's more of a getting from point A to point B kind of place (as you would know)...I would highly recommend taking the B-Line to Van, or get someome to drive you...i'm assuming you're in highschool...and honestly, all the people I've met who longboard haven't even heard about the whole longboard racing seen and really the whole "going longboarding for longboarding sake" thing is pretty much lost on them.
Despite all on that, I don't want to crush your spirit. I hope you find some people want to meet up with you, and if you can't, try and recruit some of your buddies into the crazy world that is coastlongboarding.
