Hey All...Smitty and Bushman particularily.
How do we get signed up to help with campsite security this year?? Since I won't be racing this year, but will be doing announcing, I want to stay at the campsite with the crew.
I will be available from Thursday (perhaps wed. night) until the Monday afternoon.
I can help with whatever is needed of me at the Lions Park...except for the actual race day as I will be at the course all day. I'd like to check out the slide comnp too..but ...meh.. no biggy if I miss it.
Smitty..we should organize a race course volunteer meeting for Sunday morning..walk the course with everyone, and really explain what is needed and what is involved with working the racecourse. We need to stress the concept of getting spectators OFF the course, etc. I have been in contact with Blake (well..I sent an email anyway)about getting the radios that we had last year, again this year. Those radios made all the difference in the world for how well the track was controlled.
So..sign me up for campsite security !!!!!

The biggest best thing we did last year for spectator/rider safety was having the shuttle bus drop the people off up the hill. This cut down dramatically (though not completely) on people crossing the course blind below Carnage Corner. I want to make sure we do that again!
I totally agree about a worker meeting Sunday morning. In fact, I would really like to see us have a short meetup at the camp on Saturday afternoon, getting as many course workers as we can together, and get to know who is who. I am contacting Strike this week about cooking for the volunteers on Saturday evening.
Superstoked, and I heard a rumour we might even have a camper this year!
