Munnsville County gravity Fest Cancelled!

Yes, this is bad news but please be respectful in your commentary, not only have the citizens of Madison County graced us with an awsome venue and event for SEVEN YEARS this announcement only concerns this year and the event may come back for the 8th race next year.
I have not posted this due to the fact that I only handle the racing and the event itself is organized by the Madison County Gravity Fest Committee, up until now I have never released any information or details without prior permission from the committee.
There are two major issues that brought about the decision by the committee to cancel this years race:
1) Financial: As with many areas, Madison County was hit very hard by the economy causing sponsors to be very hard to come by and it was decided not to go forward.
2) Construction: East Hill Rd is scheduled to be under construction during the summer 2009 with no specific dates released leaving the committee no assurance this road would be usable. Change of venues, though possible would cause further issues with the financial stability of the event so the above decision was deemed the best resolve for this year.
The committee expressed interest in moving forward with next year and emails showing support of having the event continue will go a long way with their decision."

This hit hard, the last sanctioned DH race on the East Coast. Saving the event seems unlikely, but 2010 will come back strong!

The USA is broke, New York is broker, and the economy in Munnsville sucks but they can find enough cash to repave a perfectly good road that a couple of dairy farmers use? Bullshit!
