photos of head injuries

speedy posted,

hey all, i'm looking for pictures of head injuries from not wearing helmets while skating. You see down here in New Zealand we're not only dealing with the "Aporkalypse" but we're dealing with an epidemic of a far more serious nature. We have a serious outbreak of 'I don't need a helmet/helmets aren't cool/ I don't need a helmet till I Get really good'. Please help a fellow Canuck fight the no helmet problem in NZ by sending me some SK8 related head injury photos that i can post up on the site down here.

please send photos to

Didn't take picture but got a good story.

The night before the first ever outlaw Shawnigan Shredder race we were celebrating at the Uvic bar it was also raining. A pint and a pitcher in me I decided to go home. I had slide gloves and I knew the road and was aware of my inebriation. Taking it easy down a minor hill I slipped out and heard the sound of my skull cracking on pavement. Remember talking to the lady that saw me fall and the paramedics. Woke up in the ER and proceeded to dry heave for about fifteen minutes. Later they said I could go. I phoned my ride to the race course (I was hosting the race by the way) and when they came to pic me up the mere jostling of my brain made me dry heave for another ten minutes. They didn't let me leave. I looked at my head in the mirror later while I was waiting for them to transfer me to another hospital where they have a head trauma unit, and the right side of my skull was flat and the rest very misshaped.

Two weeks later and a hole lot of CTC scans and medication I had a hot nurse come in to talk to check up on me. We got to talking and i was feeling spry so I thought I was on a role with here. Right before she leaves she goes, 'Oh yeah, I forgot to ask. They tell me you've been having trouble having bowel movements. Hows that going for you?'

So three years later and my sense of smell is still shot, I'm very susceptible to another concussion, and i have to be careful when i fly.

Needless to say if I wasn't eight blocks away from the hospital I could have died.
