Concrete Wave: Danger Bay

anonymous posted,

Did anyone else think that the write up for Danger Bay in
the most recent issue for concrete wave sucked?
Im sorry Michael Brooke but you failed once again and im
pretty bummed out...
Last year was a shit write up, all you did was crap on
about 'your experience' and really didnt tell the story of
what happened there... There was so much left out, there
was no race report and there were hardly any photos to go
with it.
This year's article is pretty much the same. As i started to
read it i was getting excited because as you stated "i felt
that my words really didnt convey what it's like to attend
this event" and once again you have done the same thing.
Sure you have gone into detail about the community, the
family, and the all around rad-ness that goes WITH
danger bay, but fuck man anyone can tell me that. I can
read it all over the internet! The audience wants a show!
Tell them about the gnarly action you saw at the race, tell
them who you thought was ripping, tell them about that
crazy heat where someone crashed and someone made it
through or something hectic like that.
Once again you crapped on about your personal
adventure and didnt even back it up with some good
photos of the events (there were only 2 good ones of
racing).
People wanna know what happened IN THE RACE, not
around it... Put your 'blog post' up on the internet next
time and leave the race report for someone who actually
knows what they are talking about and knows what the
audience wants.

this year we changed a few things with the way we presented DB. I wanted to show more than just a few shots...so I spent the weekend gathering as many photos as I could.

there are over 65 shots...not much words...My hope is to give people a little bit more insight as to the people and personalities that make up this great event. It's a different style of coverage than we've done in the past.

As for the cover shot...believe me, we tried and tried to get something. I still want a DB cover...and it will happen.

For the anonymous poster who has real issues with the coverage, all I can say is contact me...maybe we can get you writing for the mag.
