BATTLE OF THE BANDS PASKAPOO!! LOOSE TOOTH IN

STRIKE posted,

WE MADE IT IN!!!!!!!!!! JUST IN TIME!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

If you are receiving this email it is because you have been selected to participate in this year’s Paskapoo Downhill Rodeo Battle of the Bands.

Please read the following email to understand what is required of you leading up to the event as well as how Saturday’s battle will be run.

1) A new Battle of the Bands poster will be available at COP with complete band line up information including set times on Tuesday, July 7th. Your ability to draw a crowd will be crucial towards your success, so do your best to spread the word to your friends. To help you do this, we have also printed 100 flyers for you to hand out over the next few weeks. We ask that you write your band’s name on the back of each flyer and encourage people to bring this flyer back to your show on Saturday. There will be onsite voting to help determine the best band, but while those votes are worth one vote each, the flyers we give you will be worth five votes each. If you want more than 100, let me know via email and I will print more out for you.

2) X92.9 will be hosting this battle and will be providing both a sound guy and a full stage setup including mics, monitors, drums and speakers. Please send me a detailed list of everything you require for your stage setup and we will confirm that we have what you need before the event. You will be allowed to decorate the stage however you want for your set as long as it can be taken down quickly and is not too vulgar (this will be an all ages show with families, so leave the ‘naked biker chick getting screwed by Satan’ banner at home please).

3) Each band is expected to come up with 45 minutes of music. Here is the schedule including setup, set and tear-down times:

1:15 – 2:30 Tabitha

4:45 – 6:00 ReWave

7:45 – 9:00 Grimzen

9:00 – 10:15 Better Off Dead

10:15 – 11:30 Caught Off Guard

11:30 – 12:45 Psychic Alliance

12:45 – 2:00 Loose Tooth

4) Set times were determined by a random draw. If you cannot make your set time for whatever reason, contact me directly and I will see what I can do. Here is the schedule as it stands now (these times may change closer to the event, but not by more than a half-hour). Those playing during the day (Tabitha, ReWave) will be playing during a break in the race which means that everyone at the race should be down in the tent watching your set.

5) Each band will be judged by a team of judges that have no loyalty to any of the bands. They have been selected for their love of music and their ability to recognize a good stage show. Their decisions will be final and will be based on the following:

a. How many people you bring to the show

b. How good of a show you put on (how well you engage the audience)

c. How much you rock (musically)

d. How much of a pain in the ass you are (if you show up drunk and break stuff…you will be penalized)

6) Grand prize is $1,000 and runner-up will receive $500. There will also be some secondary prizing (shwag, sponsored prizing) but we want to make clear that there is no guarantee that you will walk away from here with a cheque; and all of the judge’s decisions will be final. Having said this, we will provide your band with a bar tab so that you can at least have a few beers for your efforts. In addition to this, all bands will receive discounted drink prices.

In conclusion, please shoot me an email to confirm that you will be participating in the event and I will put a poster/flyer package together for you. If you are from out of town, let me know your address and I will mail it out to you.

Our goal is to blow the roof off of this event, so do what you can to bring out anyone that likes beer, bands and longboard racing!
