Road Rash, Infected?

Westie posted,

I got some minor (about the size of a quarter) road rash a few days ago from my friend skating into me. I cleaned it out really well and all, but its starting to look a little greenish/brown around the edges (60% of it).
I'd rather not get an infected elbow at the beginning of summer, so any help would be great!

dacotah replied,

did you put any polysporin or anything like that on it?
if so it should be good to go, unless it really ozzy and
shit. if the scab is just like that i think it should be ok.

Caeli replied,

Wash it off with non-perfumed soap in the shower- something super mild if you have it, like castile or macrobial (the latter can be obtained by request at drug stores). When you get out, clean it, but not with cloth- something clean and disposable, like a paper towel. Dab, try not to tear it. Dump hydrogen peroxide on that motherfucker and let it air out. If the hydrogen peroxide is fizzy, it's killing stuff, which looks bad a lot of the time but it's probably not terrible. Bandage with clean, sterile padding and use medical tape (after a few days this may leave tape rash, which sucks, but it's worth it). Remove, wash, and clean at least twice a day.

I may sound over-cautious here but green isn't a good sign. I get scar pieces done and I am massively paranoid about infection, so the above is just my recommendation.
