tynan eggler posted,

I have been wanting to host a race in nanaimo for a long time and now i think i have found a perfect race course. Its out of town, has minimal homes and traffic, a beautiful left hairpin, a fast drifty right sweeper/t intersection (similar to the corner at the shredder.) right and long (probably around 75km tops) straights.
The only issue is that just after the final right corner the road drops steep and long into a CULDISAC. there is not enough flat out of the right for the finish line to be before the steep and if the finish line was half way down it would be a 50-60km footbreak or slide to a stop. Which would either slay your shoes or disintegrate your wheels.

So my question is 1. would you be down for attending a race without a shutdown like this? 2.can you think of any ways to solve this problem? one idea i have had is soaking the bottom half of the road so that shutdown slides would not wear your wheels. possible problems being....injury..wet equiptment...lots of funny crashes!

what do you think.

there is also a option of turning left at the T intersection. making the final corner a very fast right sweeper to left corner shicane which has a flat run out. but i prefer the right because then the course has a hard heelside and toeside.

and i meant to say "with a shutdown like this" not "without a shutdown like this"
