here's ScooT's descirption of Peyragudes and those last seconds at the Graveyard:
I forget if i told u but in the quater final of paragood, i screwed up the start and didn't push enough. I don't really know what i was thinking but its good experience i guess haha i won't do that again. Towards the end of the track i was catching them but took the last corner too fast and barley hit the hay bails. I sorta gave up at the last second in the corner cuz i knew i wasn't going to make it.
After getting the ride in the motor home we went off free riding on the way to the next race, but didn't get to far... The driver Olivia broke his ankle on one of the first hills witch was a total bummer for him hes out for the rest of the season. We were luckey we were traveling with the oranatang team and Louis could drive the motor home. Oliv got a cast on his leg and we spent the next few days chilling at the river.
Oh my GOD the graveyard call was the gnarlyest track i've seen. Super tight road and we had 2man heats. I got 7th in Qualifying but i tend to always do sorta shity at qualifying, racing is a different story. The event organizers were amazing. As soon as we got to the hill they let us ride in T shirt and shorts. They'd be shuttling us around the back of the course and we'd get like 15 practice runs a day. I've never had so much fun freeriding at a skateboard event.
My first heat i didn't have to race anyone because i did well qualifying. Round 2 wasn't so easy, i had to race Adam Yates from oz, but hes been in van for a year and learned lots. I won but it was tight racing. The next heat was agains one of the fastest french riders Yvon. Hes a hard guy to race because hes very aggressive. I manage to out push him and stayed out in front. The next round i was not very confident, well i knew i could win but this was a big challenge. Racing James Kelly the #2 qualifyer. Again i won the push and had a really solid run, i nailed every corner and didn't look back. Next round was a gong show. In the first turn i was in 2nd and charged the turn and we both crashed. Then in the bottem righthand hairpin we collided again and went down. I got luckey because my board was right under my feet so i got up first made it to the top 2. I couldn't belive i was racing Mischo ahahaa. Because it wasn't his style of track at all. But i guess he stepped it up and proved him self. I was happy i was racing Mischo i needed some revenge from vernon. This time i didn't screw up the start, and i knew i could out push mischo becuase hes sorta uncoordinated. I pushed my little heart out and didn't look back till the finish, at the last corner i footbreaked just to make sure i made it then when i got back into my tuck i nearly bailed cuz i was leaning forward to far. I don't even like thinking about it because it gives me nightmares haha. But when i fell over i just pushed my self back on my board and made it. OMG i even explain how scary that was. Like 15feet from the line then almost eat shit for nuthing. I just told my self not today and stayed on untill the line...whoa.....
Its rad to get a 1st under my belt it helps alot for the seiries and theres lots of races to go. The next race in itally is going to be sorta a shity track but the event and orginization is amazing i think they spend 200,000 euros on the event. Big jumbo screens i heard its 22 meters or sumthing crazy. Awsome food big crowd.
We stopped in this french town izuard i think its called its at the bottem of the biggest mountain pass in france. We camped in the middle of the pass last night by this little lake relaxed and just enjoyed the moment. In the morning we got up at 5 50am geared up and headed out to skate. We go early so theres no traffic and its alot less dangerous to skate. The roads are so amazing i think we skateboarded like 120km worth of road today. Then when we went for food in izuard i ran into my friend Sebastion i met him in south africa and we hung out a month there and raced. But ya he just saw the stickers on the cars and came down to see us. I'm at his place right now on his computer hehe. We are getting up early to go skate some other local hills and do some filming. Then in the afternoon take off to itally.
