How can i fix my smokies?

David Wong posted,

A friend of mine was riding my smokies one night and tried to footbrake but got wobs and jumped off while my board went flying into a curb at about 40k.. I didnt think much of it but when i went to set up a different board the next day i noticed my smokies baseplate was bent. Is there any way i could bent it back?

replied,

not really. the more you bend aluminum, the weaker it gets until it can shear

trade you the bent ass pair for a deck though.

if you flip the hanger over and put a jimz bottom bushing in it upside down you wont need a bushing where the spherical goes. just pop a barrel in the small socket on top and there you are

looks like they can be fixed take them to an
machine shop that does aluminem welding they
could cut them and it doesnt look like it would
interfear with the pivot cup location if you did so.
set em straight and lay a nice bead around em a
good weld and they would hold together just fine
after a nice sanding and mabey fresh coat of paint
or something you most likely couldnt even tell tey
were damaged. dont know how much it would cost
though probly expensive but probly cheaper than
buying whole new set of trucks
