New to the Longboarding Scene

NeverEndingWinter posted,

Hi All,

I just picked up my longboard from the Boardroom in the Kitsilano area. I got a Never Summer Norad board at a fairly decent price considering it is my first board.

I'm strictly going to be using it for cruising to school as well as the occasional skate session on the weekends. I know this probably has been covered a few times, but are there any tips that you would offer to a newb such as myself? I don't have any skateboarding experience, but I do snowboard and kind of have the kick, push motion down. However, I notice when I hop back on my board with the foot I'm kicking and pushing with, I feel my board slightly wobble left and right. I'm trying to maintain a straight path, and is there something I can do to accomplish this? I'm going to practice again today after work and any expert advice will be taken into consideration.

Cheers!
