Best CAM for the BUCK

i am very interested in purchasing a video camera but not really sure what i want...
GoPro is a great camera but it does not work in low light and night riding. I'm interested in something that will be useful in doing interviews with people and filming short projects. Anyone got any thought on a great camera for the buck?
