lathing wheels... how to chuck them up?

Travis Jankcranker posted,

i was thinking of putting them on a dowel or metal rod but i'm not sure how i would keep them from spinning freely.

i have access to both a wood lathe and a metal lathe. i was thinking metal lathe because it has automatic feed and would be more consistent. the wheels are 82a D-series hawgs.

(before everyone tells me to ride them out, i got them from someone else and they're all different sizes and too badly coned to make it worth my while. i just want to equalize them and then i'll probably just give them away to a new rider who needs wheels.)

erg... sorry the title on the main forum page says "wood lathe or metal lathe?", i tried to change it after i realized that's not what i meant but it didn't work...

should say "lathing wheels... how to chuck them up?"

Logan replied,

no need for an axle of any kind, just sandwhich the wheel in a wood lathe.

replied,

Precision isn't really key here as far as getting them perfectly straight with an auto-feed (although my perfectionist tendencies makes me want to... what I'm mostly concerned about is boring old safety.

Any imperfections in the wheels can be ridden out, I just want them to be roughly the same size because they're all different and makes it ride wonky.
