WHO WANTS TO GO TO JAIL FOR SMOKING A JOINT?

brandon bean posted,

CAUSE IF THEY PASS BILL C-15, THE JUDGE WILL BE
BOUND BY STATUTE LAW TO SENTENCE YOU TO PRISON IF
YOU ARE CAUGHT WITH MARIJUANA.

this is not some crazy lie, this bill has already passed one
reading in the house, and now with a conservative senate,
it has a serious chance of passing.

I know most of you stoner fucks couldnt care less about
whats going to happen to you in 5 minutes, let alone
tomorrow, but for those of us that like to use our brains,
maybe you should consider writing your MP to let them
know you think its BUNK TO SEND 17 YEAR OLD KIDS TO
JAIL WITH CRIMINAL RECORDS FOR SMOKING A
NATURALLY OCCURRING PLANT!

feel free to use this letter i drafted:

Dear Honorable Jason Kenney,

My name is Brandon Bean, and I had the pleasure of
voting for you in our last federal election.

As one of your constituents, I feel obligated to inform you
of my ardent disapproval of the provisions of bill c-15.

I do not support any legislation which further perpetuates
the ineffective, costly, and utterly nonsensical
criminalization of a naturally occurring plant, which
according to my religion (christianity) is created by God,
and explicitly given to us for use. (genesis 1:29).

Further more, I do not support the use of my tax dollars
going to incarcerate people who chose to smoke, ingest,
or otherwise consume this naturally occurring plant.

In a November 2004 poll by Ipsos Reid, 51% of Canadians
agreed that Canadians should not suffer a criminal record
for marijuana possession.

So why is our government attempting to pass legislation
that would provide minimum jail sentences for those of us
that choose to use this plant?

Prohibition does not work, it only provides market
opportunities for criminals. This entire problem was
created, observed and solved in the United States during
prohibition.

By keeping this plant illegal, for no good reason
(according to the WHO, marijuana is both less dangerous
physically, and less addictive that tobacco or alcohol, both
of which are entirely legal and regulated in this country,
much to the benefit of our society) we are not creating a
safer environment for anyone.

I do not support this, or any bill which provides minimum
sentences for victimless crimes, and this is a large enough
issue for me that if this bill goes through, I will have no
choice but to strategically vote against the conservatives
by voting liberal in the next election. For the love of god,
please dont make me vote liberal, I still want to be able to
sleep at night.

Ive attached some reading material to support my position
that this is utter nonsense, and only harms our society,
and does not protect anyone.

If we wish to stop organized crime from flourishing, take
away their source for money. legalize marijuana; dont
enable black markets.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, I trust you
will do the right thing and not support this archaic and
harmful bill.

brandon bean replied,

consider using your own name though, one person
sending a million emails isnt very effective, but a
million people sending one email is.

replied,

hopefully you havnt sent it yet, but I feel its a great letter, and very well written. "Ive attached some reading material to support my position that this is utter nonsense, and only harms our society, and does not protect anyone." this part seemed very confusing to me at first, i thought you were refering to YOUR thoughts as nonsense. Perhaps rephrase it, but thats just my 2 cents. gj with references
