!Introductory race for introductory rider!

Zac posted,

Hi,

I'm looking at beginning racing this year! I live in white rock, b.c. close to vancouver and am only about 13. I wanted to know if anyone had suggestions on a race or to I can start dh longboarding on. I am so/so at the sport. I just learned how to heelside pendy/pre drift. Still need to learn toeside, I don't have leathers, I do have a full face I could turn into a longboard helmet and 187 pro knee pads. A list of needed skills and equipment needed as well as a selection of races would be well appreciated!

Thanks,
Zac

zac you mostly gotta get your friends into it and race race race on runs that you find in your area,
or meet people who do the kinda skating you wanna do and... do it.

I'm not sure if there is any 'casual' racing, I think your best bet to learning is to go to a race like attack of danger bay, and see what the competition looks like, then practice conquering increasingly difficult terrain as well as practice mastering your cornering ( like footing, stance, lean ) on less extreme terrain.

lurning to heelside pendy/predrift on your own is good, so is noticing that toeside is exactly the same except different, and your right, competency with these 2 ( or 4, whatever ) things is pretty important, so is footbraking

basically just : strong steering, no bias for toe/heel pendys, and footbraking.
