SLASHER all the info

ENGLISH posted,

the 2nd Annual Salt Spring Slasher is this Saturday! Here's everything you need to know whether you are coming to race, volunteer or spectate.

REGISTRATION -
Please email saltspringdh@gmail.com to confirm your spot and to make payment arrangements. If you are planning on coming and paying on race day, please contact Adrian English as soon as possible. If you don't you may not get breakfast or lunch. IT'S NOT TOO LATE! If you can 100% confirm your spot, you can pay on race day. Just contact me.

If you've paid, you're on the list and racing.

VOLUNTEERS -
Thanks to everyone for all your generous offerings to volunteer at the Slasher this year, however I won't need everyone. Those assigned positions to help out at the Slasher will get breakfast, lunch and a Slasher shirt.

SPECTATORS -
Everyone is welcome at breakfast, just bring $5, same as Bons and it'll be way better! There will be burgers and hotdogs and veggie burgers for sale at the race course for lunch. Also, Slasher shirts will be for sale for $15. (you'll want one)

SLASHER SCHEDULE -
Saturday
6:45am - Convoy to Breakfast
7:00am - Coffee, breakfast, waivers + racer wristbands
9:00am - Practice runs
10:00am - Qualifying heats
12:30pm - Lunch time
1:00pm - Racing begins
Before 5pm - Podium

This is a one day event. Sunday however many people will be convoying around the island free riding some fun hills.

LOGISTICS -
At breakfast you'll be filling out the waiver and recieving your wristband enabling you to race for the day. So don't miss breakfast! If you are travelling to SSI on Saturday morning from Vancouver Island and unable to make breakfast, print off a waiver, have it filled out and bring it to the race course before 9am. At 9am when the first practice runs have begun, you better have a wristband on or you will not be racing.

DIRECTIONS -
If you need directions to the race course and camping or breakfast location contact Adrian at saltspringdh@gmail.com.

WAIVER is here - http://saltspringdh.ca/SLASHERWAIVER_2010.pdf
If you are going to be late on Saturday morning, have it filled out and bring it.
If you are 18 or under, make sure you bring it filled out and signed by your folks.
Everyone else, make sure you have your med. card number and we'll fill them out at breakfast.

TRAVELLING TO SSI - www.bcferries.com
For those travelling from Vancouver and anywhere else on the mainland, you'll be departing from tsawassen. There is a rare direct sailing on Friday night at 10:20pm from tsawassen to long harbor on SSI. I will have a shuttle to pick up any walk on passengers that were unable to claim a seat in vehicles on the boat already. We'll convoy to our place to camp, and be arriving about midnight. So bring flashlights.

TRAVELLING BACK -
There's a 3:30pm ferry departing SSI and arriving in Tsawassen at 6pm (stops at two other islands too). This is best for people with vehicles. You can get back to Vancouver by transferring on Vancouver Island too, but often connections don't work if you have a vehicle.

RACING -
One or two practice runs.
Three randomly drawn heats of 4 for elimination heat placement.
Racing is heats of 4, unlimited push.
Semi-finals are four heats of 2 (head to head) instead of two heats of 4. This ensures that you must beat someone to make it to the final round.
Categories are OPEN class, WOMENS class, GROMS class, and BONUS class. Cash prizes for every category!! Stay tuned for details on Bonus class

If you have any more questions that haven't been answered here, on coast threads with Slasher in the title, on our website www.saltspringdh.ca or on our facebook group "SLASHER 2010" then please feel free to contact me at 604.230.2118 or saltspringdh@gmail.com
