a petition only carries weight when it is filled with signatures from registered voters. The normal proportion you need to force a vote on something in canada is either 6.5 or 10% of the eligible voters I think. An online petition carries no weight at all.

Please do your research before you screw over people who actually have a chance of changing the laws.
