luke whitmore crashed today on bowen and is in
vancouver general hospital. prayers go out to
him and his family, his mom is flying from
australia to vancouver.

Hi All - Luke's Mum here. WOW I am truely overwhelmed by your thoughts and prayers, thank you.
Update - His crash involved him hitting a guard rail - as Hugh has already said. He had a bleed to his brain and bruising, the bleed has stopped and the brusing has reduced in size so there is no need to operate to releave the pressure.
Luke had the intubator removed late this afternoon and was able to talk to me, although very hoarsely! He still has a nasal tube in and oxygen to support his lungs.
He has a tube in the side wall of his chest removing air from his chest cavity, this will stay in for a while yet. One lung is still partially collapsed. He also has some broken ribs.
His spine is all good and I believe there are no broken bones elsewhere.
He is still fairly drugged, and I have to say talking gibberish with some coherence.
Really happy to see Hugh and Melissa, gave them a big smile and Hugh got the finger!!!!
Should be out of ICU in the next couple of days, and then onto a ward somewhere in Vancouver General.
Sure Hugh will keep you all well posted - his Mum showed me these and I thought it might be nice to post an update.
Thank you again for your prayers, love and concern - The Lord's blessing to you all.
I am so dead, it's been like 36+ hours with no sleep, hitting the sack now.

and found out that her flight alone has
put her back 3000 dollars!!!! Thats a
very pretty penny!! How fortunate of a
situation are we in that we have
strength in numbers!!! I'm sure there
are at least 400 people who check this
forum so if we could each come up with
10 bucks we can help ease this poor
mothers burden just a little!!!!
400*10=4000 dollars!! That would be more
than enough to cover her flight and
living expenses she has had to incur due
to these tragic circumstances!!! There
will be an account set up under Judy's
name as early as tomorrow that you will
be able to deposit your donation!!
Please help in any way you can!! I'm
sure every one of us can come up with 10
bucks for a fallen bro( for those who
like to smoke a lot of weed, ask your
parents... tell them the
situation)....lol

Hey everyone
I'm alive and back in Aussieland right now. I would
just like to thank all of you for sending me the
positive vibes that were much needed. Right now
I'm recovering quickly, I am my own person again.
Although there are little things I struggle with which
will only heal in time. So I have to be patient and
take it slow for a couple of weeks, which I'm fine
with.
I would just like to say that this sport that we all
participate in is dangerous so please be careful
when your skating. Remember its about riding with
your buddies not about who can get down the
mountain first and win. We all need to look after
each other in this sport so please do.
