Blowin up spots

I.F. 17901 posted,

Now, I'm not the best skater in the world and
I know it's wrong to harsh on people that
find their stoke in a different way, but
listen to this fellow D-H'ers. I was sliding
a san-fran style hill with about 40 Meters of
steep incline before the road approaches an
intersection. I throw a pendy before the stop
sign, look both ways foot-break a bit and
roll through the intersection to the next
hill. A kid on a free-bord does the same
thing, except, if you've seen the training
wheels on a free-bord, you know they don't
allow you to shut it down in the same way.
This kid does (arguably) a cool stand up
slide but carries it over into the
intersection, blowing the stop and pissing
off a motorist enough to have them call the
police. Luckily I'm headed back to AZ
tomorrow and the heat won't be an issue.
However I am kind of miffed that this dude
decided to disregard the rules of the road
and potentially blow that hill for me and any
other responsible DH'ers in the future. Take
off the training wheels man and learn how to
stop. It's safer and far more legal than
blowing off the law and giving us a bad name,
because to be honest, law enforcement
unfortunately lumps us all together. To them
a board with wheels that can't stop is
dangerous and a liability. If your setup, be
it longboard, free-bord, skate-board, razor
scooter or fruit boots can't obey the rules
of the road in an emergency situation; then I
think it is time to find a new way to get
your adrenaline rush.

I've never ridden anything other than
skateboards but to me I can't understand how
these guys think that these "bords" are safe.
After what I saw tonight I can say from
experience that I will DH forever and never
step on one of those death machines for as
long as I enjoy gravity.

The tour heading through the states in
now in Rado and there blowing a lot of
our spots. Holding up traffic skating
all over the road not wearing helmets
slowing us down! I'm tired of it there
in no respect in the freebord scene.
Tomorrow morning they are having a
session on lookout at 11am with a bunch
of CU boulder College kids were crashin
it.
