best wheel size for sliding?

is bigger better? is smaller better?

replied,

Smaller generally means less urethane
depth, which means smoother/more
predictable slides.

However, bigger means more 'thane to
shred.

Try out some wheels and find out for
yourself. Start at ~70mm, kill that set
or trade, then try bigger and smaller
and find out what you like (no, that
isn't what she said).

I swore by center set for a long time, so naturally I was stoked about the S9 Racers (so much cheaper than Flys!). But then one day I picked up some Zombie Hawgs, and holy shit! When your wheel gets a nice cone going on it you can slide like a dream and still catch yourself when you need to. I doubt I could explain the physics that back up this statement, but it's gotta be something to do with the smaller amount of 'thane on the inside of the wheel, and the larger amount on the outer!

S9's wheel is rad, don't get me wrong, but if you have the money I would recommend going side set (isn't that what it's called?).

I've got the Retro Freeride reflex formulas, and they're all right once they got worn in, but they're a bit too sticky for my taste. I did like the Zombies... blah blah blah
