anyone involved in PUSH .. please read

Lori posted,

Hey Everyone .. well we are less then 2 weeks away and we are running into a few issues. There are alot of people involved this year helping out and doing what I usually do alone. I want to say thank you to everyone that helps.

I am going to fill EVERYone in right now on how things work. There have been a few things going wrong and I want to straighten them out before things get out of hand.

OK .. we meet at Hope Skate park between 10 and 11am on Saturday October 9th. After registration there is a group photo and riders meeting and we will all then proceed to Coopers ion Hope where they will provide us with a quick BBQ.

RULE NUMBER 1 - The number of riders is growing every year. To maintain the safety of the group THERE WILL ONLY BE DESIGNATED VEHICLES IN THE PUSH. These vehicles include .. the lead vehicle (Lori's), the Loco Express, a 1 ton truck loaded with equipment, and the follow vehicle (Heather) .. this is strictly enforced. IF you have a vehicle you need to take .. make arrangements for it to get to the next destination without traveling with the pack.

Rule 2: We have ALOT of new riders every year. There is an established group of ASSHOLES that are in charge of keeping everyone safe. They will be wearing Safety vests and they are the ONLY ones that will be permitted to travel anywhere across the white line at the side of the road or passing the lead vehicle. ANYONE NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES WILL BE GIVEN 1 WARNING AND THEN ASKED TO LEAVE THE PUSH. safety is crutial. These guys and girls have been doing this every year and have us running like a well oiled machine.

Rule 3 - WE RESPECT EVERYWHERE WE GO AND EVERYONE WE MEET. We are representing a large growing community of skaters that has been seen ALOT on the news lately .. we need to make sure that EVERYONE is on board with behavior .. have fun but keep it clean. We clean where we go .. we DO NOT VANDALIZE >> anyone caught even thinking about it will be gone and never welcome back. MEDIA (newspapers etc) we have a media spokesperson .. ROB LEWIS is the person that does ANY interviews for PUSH. Rob is one of the guys that first made the trek across Canada .. nobody tells it better then him. IF rob isnt available .. we leave the talking to STRIKE.

Rule 4 - This is a non alcohol event .. we cant control what an individual does on their own BUT there are ALOT of underagers that will be there and we dont want encourage the demise of their innocence :)

We are working hard on getting enough food donated for 100+ riders and support people. This is sounding like its going to be the biggest PUSH ever and I am getting a little stressed.

There has been some mention of Pizzas and I am thrilled at the work that everyone is doing to try and help. Unfortunately we dont have money to spend on extra pizza. I appreciate that the companies have offered the extras for $5 and if an individual wants to participate in that out of their own pocket I am sure they are welcome to do that. I have had a word with a few of the others involved in PUSH over the last 5 years and we just want to let everyone know how the money works.

We require $30 entry fee by everyone that participates. This is over and above the pledges. Here's why, The pledges are strictly for the Canadian Breat Cancer Foundation. 100% .. We do not use those funds in any way shape or form. The $30 fee is to pay for the incidentals that dont always get covered by donation. I work my ass off every year along with others to try and get everyone fed and a place to stay. Sometimes there are things that arent doanted and we have to pay for them. The Rental of Maple Ridge fairgrounds is cheap but still there.. if we can get someoen to take over that donation great .. if not .. it comes out of the funds. The Support vehicles get gas money .. they are keeping you safe and they desrve that. I usually pay for my own if the extra isnt there. There is insurance for the rental truck .. they can donate the truck but law says we pay for insurance. The BBQ is often donated but not the propane. I have run out of food and had to buy extra when the donations ran out. you are fed and warm at night for $10 a day. Cheaper then home. Please dont ask for the extras we dont have. We are all volunteering in the positions we have and we dont get a dime for what we do. My pay is watching you guys have a blast giving Breast Cancer your fight.

MAJOR RULE have fun .. there is a reason we have done this 5 years ina row. :)

Happy pushing everyone .. see you in a week !!
