UBC Longboarders!

Gash posted,

This is addressed to any persons going to UBC
right now!

I want to somehow utilise those underground
parkades they are so greedily keeping us away
from . I am wondering if it would be possible
to initiate a truce between us and the ubc
campus. See, recently there was an incident.
They didn't like us there, we didn't leave,
there was almost a lawsuite, etc...
Well, if maybe you (the person attending UBC
or sleeping with a faculty member) go forward
to student council and request to open the
parkades to the longboarders late at night.
We could use them when everyone goes to
sleep. I mean, noone is there using them
anyways, it's wet outside, we're endangering
ourselves on the streets every day. This, you
could vouch, would allow for a safe winter
skate zone for the community. we'd sign
waivers and whatever was required. AND, if
they're still not complying, maybe you could
ask them if they'd rather you charged a fee.
Then we could have a membership and a
"parkade skate lisence" or something, charge
a token sum for it, and throw half the money
to charity. I don't know, I'm just throwing
suggestions in the air. I know it's hella fun
to run from the cops and dodge security on
bikes, but this way we could skate in their
sweet parkades as long as we wanted and they
wouldn't get mad at us. Noone's stressed, and
we get to skate.
Let me know what you guys think!

I don't think any level of student
government at UBC would be able to make
this decision. I'm not a part of it,
but I heard that the UBC longboarding
club tried to become an official club
this year and we told they couldn't
because it's "too dangerous" so I don't
have high hopes for them letting us use
the parkades if we can't even have our
own club.

why don't you guys get in contact with some of Americas most successful clubs (penn state, florida, socal) and use their clubs as examples for positive influence in getting your club made official

don replied,

if any of you retards ever got hurt in there your mommies would sue the shit out of UBC for not taking appropriate measures to keep you out. that is why they dont want you skating. no one owes you the right to skate on their property. get over yourselves.
