Atomic Bomb Update

TimeShip Headquarters posted,

Atomic Bomb Lodging and Camping Update 3-18-11

Hey Racers!

The Southwest Series will finish with a real bang! The Atomic City of Los Alamos, NM has been stepping up to help us to make this a memorable weekend of riding, racing and relaxing in the high country of northern New Mexico. Southwest Series Racers have been offered a group rate for lodging at the Best Western Hilltop House which is in downtown Los Alamos within skate distance from all kinds of cool stuff and only 15 minutes from the race course. Yes, there’s a sweet little concrete skate park 5 minutes away. Nice!

Hilltop House has every amenity including an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and a HOT Breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage and waffles included! The rooms are double occupancy with 2 double beds, microwave, refrigerator and wireless internet. Hilltop House is fine with having extra racers roll out on the floors with sleeping bags (just your style) and we have 20 rooms blocked off just for our crew. Cost is $69 per night per room and reservations need to be made by phone by May 1st to get this special rate.

Phone # is (505) 662-2441 and you’ll tell them you are with the “Skateboard Race” to get the special rate. We suggest Friday night May 13th and Saturday May 14th. We will soon be announcing a Saturday night venue (TBA) for us to get together and review the days video footage.

Racers will get a visitors package with coupons to local restaurants, maps and points of interest in the Atomic City. We suggest the Bradbury Science Museum. This link to their website, has info on the hotel and an active map that you can navigate to find the race course just west of town on Camp May Road, look for the SICK never ending right turn. That is the Nautilus corner and we will see plenty of action there!

Other lodging is available nearby if you really need your own space away from other skaters to help you prepare for the next day’s racing.

Comfort Inn

There are some camping options though they are fairly rugged. Camp May is 15 minutes above the race course but needs a very rugged vehicle to reach. These few spots can be reserved only in PERSON at the Larry Walkup Aquatic Center and there are only a few sites at $10 per night. Call Anna at 505-663-1788.

About ½ an hour farther into the Jemez Mts on highway 4 you will reach Forest Road 289, turn left and drive 10 minutes into the Santa Fe National Forest to a corralled area at Forest Road 36. Camping here is free and very beautiful.

Sunday Night the awards party will be at the Santa Fe Bar and Grill in Santa Fe 45 minutes away and we will be posting lodging options soon and offering our Skate School warehouse for riders that want to sleep on the ramps and platforms (like Casey Morrow does).

TimeShip wants to welcome ALL of our Title Sponsors to the Southwest Series!

Predator Pro Class
Women’s Class
Dregs Masters Class
Surf-Rodz Juniors Class

And all of our product Sponsors (so far)

Skatera

The third and final race in the Timeship Southwest Series will be The Atomic Bomb. The Bomb is a sick 1.5 mile downhill race with twisty tech turns at the top and a 50 mph finish. It is being held just above Los
Alamos on Camp May Road, below the Pajarito Ski Area. The top of the race course is at 9200 feet above sea level.

Sign up information at:

Payment will be accepted ONLY by Paypal. You can find our Paypal button at the NCDSA page above. If you don't have a Paypal, find someone who does, and put your name in the comments section. Entry is 125$ USD

There will be racing classes for Juniors, Womens, Mens, and Masters. The Awards Party will be held at the Santa Fe Bar and Grill on Sunday night where the Series winners will be announced and cash prizes awarded including the Fastest Qualifying Time.

TimeShip Headquarters replied,

Wow, we hadn't thought of that! Now that you mention it it does seem confusing, but we are not going to change the name of the event.
