tales of sixx 4

alek beck posted,

The hills in this part of Northern Ontario
are reminiscent on BC! Steep climbs and with
long, fast descents keep things interesting
from a topographical perspective. That’s
great because the scenery around here is
beautiful, but monotonous. Lakes and rocks
and trees and then more lakes and rocks and
trees…

Today’s ride followed along the highway where
Terry Fox ran his last KMs before his dying
body finally made him stop. As a kid growing
up in Canada you cannot help but know about
Terry. Every year Terry Fox runs are held in
schools across the country, usually with a
video accompaniment which chronicles his
Marathon of Hope.

When making these great treks it is good to
remember there are many who came before you
and many who will come after. Many of them
did it under far more challenging
circumstances than you. So when you don’t
want to go on you suck it up and push forward
by drawing on the collective energy of those
determined individuals who’ve seen it
through.

Now seated in a cafe in Marathon, soaked head
to toe after riding through a thunder storm
and summoning the dogged determination needed
to ride another 90+KM to White River… live by
the deck...die by the deck.
