Just an idea
Gabe posted,
What if we organize with ICBC to add
longboarders into the learners and driver
manuals. That way drivers will understand how
we ride and what it's like for us on the road
and how we would like to share the road with
them. Helping bridge these two aspects of
society

I would also like to see more drivers
understand how downhill skateboarding
works and how to use the roads WITH us,
but I don't want to have ICBC have any
part in it. I have a feeling ICBC would
take a great idea and turn it into
something terrible. Something that, in
the end would not benefit Skaters.
Another approach to inform people would
be to approach your local municipality
to see if they'll close a road for you
and your crew to host a safe riding
clinic, preferably in some place that
has a lot of pedestrian traffic so that
people will see first hand how rad - and
and in control, downhill skateboarding
can be. People can see how skaters
skate without the "help" of ICBC.
Corporations often ruin good things.
