Randal 42's for lyfe
Jude posted,
The other day I walked into flatspot and witnessed a small
group of kids setting up brand new decks with Aera's.
Each one sinking more than my paycheque into this board
that, for all I knew, they were going to go shred some
serious gnar with.
What I want to know, as the stories of kids being hated on
for riding cast trucks, is when did the shift start to
become more than simply riding what you could get your
hands on and learning to shred with those quirks inherent
in riding something so far beyond it's intended use? When
did this downhill thing become a fashion show?
I ride a nemesis with bent randal 42's. It needs to be
loosened up a bit (i have it in geriatric knee setup
currently). This set up has taken me down seymour in the
morning, fatih's for lunch, and southvan in the evening.
You don't need precisions until you've bent enough cast
trucks to know what your missing! and even then...I'd hate
to see downhill become like the overpriced and over-
engineered world of cycling...o wait, it already has. I guess
it's time to get into luge.
If I ever hear someone being made fun of for riding cast
trucks, I'll put my aftermarket grade 8 kingpins through
your fucking helmet and give your fancy ass trucks to the
kid who rides what he's got and doesn't give a fuck for the
fashion.
